Fingerprint Recognition Technology
Fingerprint recognition mainly refers to identify or confirm a individual's identity by pattern and features of fingerprint. Everyone's skin lines (grains) includes fingerprint are different on pattern, breakpoint and intersection. Based on these features, we could match someone with its fingerprint and compare its fingerprint with the saved fingerprint data to verify its real identity. This is so called fingerprint recognition technology
How Does Fingerprint Recognition Work?
There are two ways to process the fingerprint recognition, one is by manual work, another is by automated algorithm software. Now most fingerprint recognition we mentioned is automated algorithm software recognition.

After that fingerprint algorithm software can do 1:1 or 1:N fingerprint verification on embedded system or online system.
Types of Fingerprint Sensor

Optical Fingerprint Sensor
Optical fingerprint sensor is most widely used and most reliable fingerprin sensor which already be proved by market more than 30 years. It has a lot of features like abrasion resistant,scratch resistant,strong ability to resist static electricity, high sensitivity,etc.
Optical fingerprint sensor is based on light reflection and refraction. When put finger on the glass prism of optical fingerprint sensor, the finger will under irradiation of built-in light source, light emitting from bottom to glass prism and pass through the prism glass to the finger. As fingerprint's pattern line is uneven, the light reflect from fingerprint will become different. When it reflect to built-in CMOS or CCD. The device can obtain the fingerprint image . then we can create a fingerprint template data by fingerprint algorithm automatically. After that fingerprint algorithm software can do 1:1 or 1:N fingerprint verification on embedded system or online system.
Capacitive Fingerprint Sensor
Capacitive fingerprint sensor is developed in recently years, it has the feature of small size,good performance with dry or wet finger,etc
Instead of creating a traditional image of a fingerprint, capacitive fingerprint scanners use arrays tiny capacitor circuits to collect data about a fingerprint. As capacitors can store electrical charge, connecting them up to conductive plates on the surface of the scanner allows them to be used to track the details of a fingerprint. The charge stored in the capacitor will be changed slightly when a finger’s ridge is placed over the conductive plates, while an air gap will leave the charge at the capacitor relatively unchanged. An op-amp integrator circuit is used to track these changes, which can then be recorded by an analogue-to-digital converter. Then we can get a fingerprint image. then we can create a fingerprint template data by fingerprint algorithm automatically. After that fingerprint algorithm software can do 1:1 or 1:N fingerprint verification on embedded system or online system.
